The ego is like the kernel of a operating system. Hindus are wrong saying the ego should be destroyed, if you destroy the kernel, the whole pc cannot function. The ego like the OS is needed, but frequently there will be virus, corrupted programs, bad programs, thus mindfulness is the antivirus program.
Karate is like the hardware of the pc. The stronger the hardware like RAM and CPU, the better the OS (self) will perform.
THe rest of the philosophy is other modules in the OS which is also required.

The 80% philosophy
This system actually cured a lot of my problems. I saw it in a book by a japanese
No need to do things perfectly, just until 80% perfection. This will cure your self criticism, inertia of starting difficult project, and stress.

Be with Oracle or partial differential equations easier than English spelling or plumping
Actually Oracle or partial differential equations is easier than English spelling. English spelling need to memorize much more word than Oracle. English spelling now become easy because you spent a lot of time immerse in it. Be with it. Love it.
Oracle or partial differential equations is no more abstract or more difficult than plumping. Plumping is much more hard work. You just have to immerse in Oracle, spend a lot of time in it.

The October Manifesto
The October Manifesto Plan for the next 30 years. 8am 20 Oct 2009 in Tuas, Singapore.
The 30 years period of exploration, self centered gratification, and Iraq war is over. Today Obama won Nobel peace prize and is rebuilding America’s finance.
Aging is rapidly becoming a factor. Two boys’ university funds need to accumulate quickly. Irking out a living has been tiring.
Thus the counter strategy and the plan for the next 30 years is:
1. Real estate.
2. IZO 147.
3. Purpose centered not feeling centered.
4. Run, don’t walk – A Linux guru.
5. Push your limits.

If my son knows only two things it will be : Karate and the Dip by Seth Godin
I always thought that if my treasure chest is lost, and the most important part can only be passed down by word of mouth what will it be? It must be short and easy to remember. It will be karate and the Dip.
Karate specifically the classical karates: Shitoryu Karate or Shotokan Karate.
The Dip is the book by Seth Godin. It means that you have to be the best to be happy, and to be the best means you have to pass through the tough time call the dip, the dip is the gateway for you to use to reach the place of bountiful resources and security. This book is available in Singapore library, or Amazon.com, and I have a pdf copy in our portable harddrive, and freedrive.com.

Forgiveness and war are opposite polarity but both are needed
Without war and only forgiveness I will be crushed. Without forgiveness only war will be brittle. Forgiveness help me recuperate and help war to be strong.
In life, forget about all the fancy psychology or breath therapies, dont work. The basic and classical stuff like hard work, forgiveness, toughness, Christianity, samurai ethnics, karate always works. This classical stuff is in ying or yang polarity, use them both together, and you will find peace in war.
This two polarity has frequently helped, it is a practical and useful tool.

What if i change from feeling centered to purpose centered?
What will happen? This I will experiment.
Morita Therapy
I have know morita therapy for a long time. It is smiliar to my accept suffering therapy. Yesterday i have a lot of anxiety over work problem, trying different technique, then i remember that trying to control emotion using no matter what technique will only make the emotion worst, suffering anxiety is natural for this kind of job, everybody has to suffer it. I stay with my anxiety letting it be there, it subside by itself, i slept.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Morita_therapy
Morita Therapy directs one's attention receptively to what reality brings in each moment. Simple acceptance of what is, allows for active responding to what needs doing. Most therapies strive to reduce symptoms. Morita therapy, however, aims at building character to enable one to take action responsively in life regardless of symptoms, natural fears, and wishes. Character is determined by behavior, by what one does. Dogmatic patterns of collapse are replaced with the flexibility to call upon courage and empowerment. Decisions become grounded in purpose rather than influenced by the fluid flow of feelings.
In Morita Therapy, character is developed by cultivating mindfulness, knowing what is controllable and what is not controllable, and seeing what is so without attachment to expectations. Knowing what one is doing, knowing what the situation is requiring, and knowing the relationship between the two are quintessential to self-validation, effective living, and personal fulfillment. Character is developed as one moves from being feeling-centered to being purpose-centered. A feeling-centered person attends to feelings to such an extent that the concern for self-protection reigns over decisions and perceptions. Given the human condition, change, pain, and pleasure are natural experiences. Indeed, emotions are a rich type of experience and a valuable source of information. Feelings are acknowledged even when what is to be done requires not acting on them. Constructive action is no longer put on hold in order to process or cope with symptoms or feelings. The individual can focus on the full scope of the present moment as the guide for determining what needs to be done.
Trying to control the emotional self willfully by manipulative attempts is like trying to choose a number on a thrown die or to push back the water of the Kamo River upstream. Certainly, they end up aggravating their agony and feeling unbearable pain because of their failure in manipulating the emotions.
—Shoma Morita, M.D.
Ultimately, the successful student of Morita therapy learns to accept the internal fluctuations of thoughts and feelings and ground his behavior in reality and the purpose of the moment. Cure is not defined by the alleviation of discomfort or the attainment of some ideal feeling state (which the philosophy of this approach opposes), but by taking constructive action in one’s life which helps one to live a full and meaningful existence and not be ruled by one’s emotional state.

To win to be stressfree dont be afraid of losing
-Today i discover that i am afraid of losing, because i am afraid of losing. Because i am afraid of losing, i avoid conflict, and postmodern my mistakes over and over again, because i am afraid of losing i am fearful, stressed out and suck at poker. That's why i cannot be a bad guy because bad guy entails risk of losing.
I have never been aware of this before, i always look down at singaporeans for being kiasu but never noticed this in myself. Since i am not aware of it i cannot correct it.
If i am not afraid of losing, immeidately i gain flexibility and relaxation and most important detachment.
-I must remember that it is never my fault. My personality and nerve is too complex near impossible by human to change; there are billions of connections like the milky way how can i change anything. So i am never blamable for my mistakes and shortcomming, and this non blaming makes me more powerful. Read the book Learned Optimism by Martin Seligman.

The other good thing about Oracle compare to engineering - Can use forum
You can ask for technical advice in forum, and get answers quickly.
In engineering it is much more difficult because you have to beg for the answers people usually dont want to teach you.
Know how to use internet forums, it is very important.

Best self help books (1 Oct 2009)
Read the book reviews in Amazon to get an idea. Use Singapore library search engine to find the book to borrow. Read reviews of the book in the internet by type “book title review”. Look for any pirated book. We may have the book. Check if the books are up in freedrive.com, ask your mom or aunty. I am compiling the reviews and put it up facebook and freedrive and email. Cant post it in this blog for copyright reasons. Read some previews in Google books, usually it is enough to read the preview. Check our portable hard drive, probably have copies of the book.
In order of importance:
1. The dip by Seth Godin. The market usually would require the best service. To get something you have to work very hard like in the bottom of the wave then when you reach the top of the wave everything become easy.
2. Strategic Intuition by William Duggan : This book really explains the real meaning of buddhism, Tao, and hinduism. Respond by what not you want, but what the situation demands. There is a lots of this books in Singapore libraries. And reading google book preview is enough.
Opposable mind by Roger Martin
3. Thick face black heart by Chin Nin Chu: You must be shameless and think you are perfect in whatever you did.
4. The 33 strategies of war by Robert Greene
5. The now habit by Neil Fiore
6. The Practicing Mind: Bringing Discipline and Focus Into Your Life by Thomas M. Sterner
